Storage

You click on the link and go into another room. It's dark here, so you start looking for a light switch on the wall. You find it.

It turns out to be a large storage area. This is where you can find things. It's all dust-covered stuff. It's very quiet in here. You can only hear your movements. As you explore the storage area, your eyes adjust to the dim light filtering through the dust-covered lamps. You can make out rows and rows of boxes, crates, and other containers. Some are old and dilapidated, while others look new and well-maintained.

You take a step forward, and your foot crunches on a pile of loose papers. You bend down to pick them up and notice they are old documents, some with faded ink and others with creases and tears. As you examine them closer, you realize they are letters, receipts, and other paperwork dating back several decades.

Curiosity takes hold, and you start to explore the containers. Some are locked, but others are not, and you cautiously open them. Inside, you find all sorts of things - old clothes, toys, books, tools, and more. Each container is like a time capsule, containing memories and treasures from the past. Some of these things remind you of something from your childhood, and you'd like to take it with you, maybe. But your heart tells you not to take anything from here. You can only look at it and hold it in your hands, but not take it home. Otherwise, these things will always be among other things, and it will make you think,
"I got this as a birthday present... I bought this at a yard sale last year... I made this postcard at school during class... And this one I stole."

What would happen if the owner of one of these things came back here in the hope that it had been left here untouched? That person would look for their container, open it, and find nothing that was dearest to them and with which they might have very fond memories. Could it be the soft pajamas with owls on them that their mom gave them as a holiday present? Or was it a plate with a carrot pattern on it? Or an orange cup with a pattern that the person bought for themselves, but bought other cups for their parents as well? An umbrella that was given to them by their mom back in high school because the old one broke? It could be anything. And a person wouldn't find it because someone went into that warehouse and took that thing. Because that thing was beautiful and nice and... Nobody's?

Is it true that this thing had no owner? No. Every thing has an owner, even if it hasn't been bought yet. All things become someone else's.

As you continue your search, you come across a large trunk in the corner of the room. It's locked, and you can't find the key. You push and pull on the lock, but it won't budge. Frustrated, you take a step back and lean against the wall. Suddenly, you hear a faint click, and the trunk opens on its own.

Inside, you find an old photo album, and you start flipping through the pages.

Here is a very small picture of a soldier. His face was unremarkable, but his gaze was as if he had lived a very long time. On the back is written the name of the city, the date from the first half of the last century, and the name of some woman.

Next comes a photo of another man and woman. They are young people. The man is dressed in a formal suit, he is tall and he looks attractive. The woman standing next to him, hugging him by the hand, looks really short compared to him. She is wearing a dress and they look happy together.

The same man is in another photo - he is an athlete. The photo shows him lifting a large barbell and a woman's name is written on the back.

Another photo shows two girls. They are supposed to be students. They are sitting on a bridge, in front of a big city. They are smiling and look like they have everything going their way. On the back are two names, the city and the year. This is the middle of the second half of the last century.

The next pictures are photos of a wedding. The very same girl student in her wedding dress is shown with her relatives and her husband. There are so many of these photos that you could put together a little movie about their wedding.

In the photo, that same gentleman is holding a little baby in his arms. You can't see his face at all, but you can tell that he truly cares for the baby.

The little baby turns out to be a curly-haired girl, judging from the photos. Here she is wearing a big straw hat, here she is eating watermelon, and here she is going to school for the first time. She has some of her favorite toys, too - puppies, and she's also got a little doll.

And here she is as an adult, with a bouffant and painted lips. The photo is framed with a rose pattern.

Her wedding photos were taken in the woods. Her fiancé looks funny in that ridiculous costume, and they look either happy or unhappy.

But their pictures with the baby turned out to be a lot more fun. At home, in the park, on the swings, or in other houses, they are smiling a lot in all of them.

The baby looks more mature in the following photos, and another baby appears there as well.

And then the photo album doesn't end, but the final pages are blank, and you wonder what happened to them all.
